Layering 101
Mountain temperatures can swing 30°F in a day, and the summit of Pikes Peak is often 30–40°F colder than town. Dress in layers: a moisture-wicking base, an insulating mid-layer, and a waterproof shell. Avoid cotton.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience?
No. Most of our trips — rock climbing intro, fly fishing, snowshoeing, the Incline — are built for first-timers. Each trip page lists a difficulty rating, and we'll help you pick the right one.
How does altitude affect me?
Colorado Springs sits around 6,000 feet and Pikes Peak tops out at 14,115. Arrive a day or two early if you can, drink plenty of water, and skip alcohol the night before. Guides watch for altitude sickness and will turn around if needed.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full refund for cancellations 7+ days before your trip. 50% refund 3–6 days out. Inside 72 hours, we'll happily reschedule but cannot refund. If we cancel for weather or safety, you get a full refund or free reschedule.
What about weather?
Summer afternoon thunderstorms are common in the Rockies, so high-elevation trips start early. Your guide makes the call on weather — safety always comes first.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes — anglers 16 and older need a Colorado fishing license, which you can buy online from Colorado Parks & Wildlife in a few minutes.
Should I tip my guide?
Tips are never expected but always appreciated. 15–20% is customary in the guiding industry.
Do you offer private trips?
Yes — every trip can be booked privately, and we build custom itineraries for families, companies and special occasions.
Where do trips meet?
Each trip page lists a meeting point. Many trips include pickup in Colorado Springs; exact details are sent in your confirmation email.
Is there a minimum age?
It varies by trip and is listed on each trip page. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who signs the waiver.
